Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has completed arrangements for the conduct of Assembly rerun elections in 42 polling units in Bauchi State.
The affected constituencies are Ningi, Zungur/Galambi, Bauchi and Madara/Chinade following the Court of Appeal nullification of the 2023 election results from the affected polling units.
INEC resident electoral commissioner in Bauchi State, Mohammed Nura, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in his office preparatory to the February 3, 2024 bye-election.

He said all election materials for the rerun have been received and are ready for deployment to the various polling units.
Nura insisted that the elections would be conducted using BVAS for accreditation, authentication, and result upload to the IReV.

The REC said a three-day training of ad-hoc personnel ended yesterday simultaneously across the affected councils, adding that the personnel were mostly members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who will work in the polling units.
Both the former speaker and deputy speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman and Jamilu Umaru Dahiru respectively were sacked by the Court of Appeal in November last year.
