The Chief Of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has exhibited solidarity and support for frontline troops towards boosting the morale of the soldiers in Akwa Ibom State.
Addressing the combatants at a special luncheon held over the weekend at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Brigade Cantonment, Mbiokporo, in Nsit Ibom local government area of the state, the Army chief applauded the troops for their bravery, professionalism and dedication.
The COAS, who was represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs (CCMA), Maj.-Gen. Gold Chibuisi, commended the troops for their unwavering dedication to duty and assured them of the continuous support of the leadership of the Nigerian Army.
Maj.-Gen. Chibuisi reiterated the COAS’s commitment to improving operational effectiveness and ensuring the morale and welfare of all personnel remain a top priority.
Speaking during the event, the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno who was represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Brig.-Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd), conveyed the Governor’s gratitude to the troops for their dedication and sacrifices.
The governor, who underscored the critical role soldiers play in ensuring peace and security in the state, assured that his administration would continue to invest in security and “committed to supporting security agencies in the fight against militancy, and other forms of criminality in the state.”
Welcoming participants, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division and Land Component Commander (LCC), Joint Task Force (JTF), South South (SS), Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, stated that “the luncheon has provided an invaluable opportunity for frontline troops to engage with senior military leadership.”
According to him, the forum also availed the troops the platform to receive encouragements under a smooth ambience, while taking some moments of respite from their demanding duties and appreciated them for their resilience in discharging their responsibilities.
In the same vein, the Commander, 2 Brigade and Sector 4, JTF, SS OPDS, Brig.-Gen. Alexander Tawasimi, reassured that “the Nigerian Army remains committed to enhancing effectiveness and ensuring a secured environment for socio-economic activities to thrive.”
He also thanked the dignitaries for making a date with the Brigade to celebrate the frontline troops in Mbiokporo Cantonment.
