A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has advised President Bola Tinubu to convene a meeting of all service chiefs and former military leaders in Nigeria to fashion out a solution to the security challenges facing the country.
George said the convocation of the meeting should be immediate, just as he stressed that the setting up of state police is imperative if Nigeria is keen on getting out of the present security mess.

Addressing the press in his office in Lagos, he urged Tinubu to jettison his political sentiment and seek the input of the former military leaders and ex-service chiefs to end insecurity which is on the increase and a threat to the country’s advancement.

George said if the president is committed to moving the country forward he should study and implement resolutions made by the 2014 confab, which he said addressed the numerous challenges facing the country and proffered solutions to the problems.
He said if Nigeria should continue with the 1999 constitution, which is a creation of the military, progress will continue to elude the country.

“The time to revisit the issue of state police is now, the president should not shy away from it. We copied the American constitution but we copied it halfway. In the USA, each state has its police and manages their resources.
