A sense of security is the feeling of reassurance and safety that people experience when they believe that their well-being and assets are protected.

Security, therefore, becomes the primary function of a government that looks to protect the citizens from all threats and ensure that the well-being of the people and the country’s institutions are preserved, protected and enhanced.

The constantly revolving dynamics of the security challenges Benue State is facing require corresponding strategies that incorporate a holistic and integrated approach to tackle.

It is in light of this that the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia launched a joint security tax force code named “Anyam Nyor” to enforce law and order and help resolve specific security concerns in the State.

The significance of this huge stride will be felt in areas such as provision of intelligence, participation in search and rescue operations and engaging in direct combat when the need arises.

With the launch of 5000 gallant officers of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, the donation of vehicles and special combatant motorcycles, as well as the unveiling of the Operation “Anyam Nyor” Joint Security Task Force, Governor Alia did not only reinforced his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property but also sent a clear message of victory in the fight against insecurity in Benue State.

Despite the effort of the Governor, Benue State is still left with skirmishes of armed attacks on some communities, especially in Kwande and Logo. However, the Governor’s unwavering commitment to bringing a permanent solution to this issue cannot be overemphasized.

Security of lives and Property sits top on Governor Alia’s Strategic Development Plan for a New Benue and he has already put in place concrete measures to strengthen the security architecture of the state.

Crises merchants and self-seeking politicians should not be taking advantage of this unrest to pitch unsuspecting public against the Benue Governor.

It is the collective responsibility of Benue citizens to take proactive steps towards finding sustainable solutions because building community resilience is not a task that can be achieved by the government alone. It requires a synchronized effort involving every stakeholder within the Benue community.

The safety and protection of individuals or a community depends on the combined efforts and cooperation of everyone. It is time for Benue citizens to forget their party differences and come together to fight for peace and security of their people.
