Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas of Oyo State as part of efforts to address growing security concerns in communities bordering the Old Oyo National Park.

The curfew, which takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and is expected to remain in force for an initial period of 48 hours.

The development was contained in a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and conveyed in a statement released on Tuesday night by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

According to the statement, the curfew affects 10 local government areas located around the Old Oyo National Park, a region that has witnessed heightened security concerns in recent times.

The affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.

The government said the measure was introduced to strengthen security, safeguard lives and property, and support ongoing efforts by security agencies to maintain law and order in the affected communities.

Residents of the affected local government areas have been urged to comply fully with the restriction while security agencies enforce the directive during the period of the curfew.
