Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is to set up an investigative committee to investigate and verify the true identities of those who settle in Kontagora  Emirate in the last five years in order to rid the area of bandits and kidnappers’ informants settling and acquiring properties  in the area.

Speaking  when he paid a sallah homage to the Sarkin Sudan Kontagora, Muhammadu Barau Muazu II at his palace in Kontagora, he said the verification exercise had become necessary in order to rid the emirate of informants and kidnappers.

To make the committee very effective, he revealed that the committee would be under the leadership of Mai Sudan of Kontagora.

The governor said  though there was relative peace in the state, the government would not relent in its effort to end the nefarious activities of bandits.

He urged the people to always respect constituted authorities and report those with questionable character to security agents.

Governor Bello also reminded the people of the demolition of houses built on the Kontagora Dam waterways as occupants of the affected buildings have been compensated by the state government.

He said there was no going back on  the demolition exercise, especially as the rainy season approaches as he had directed the Ministry of Lands and that of Water Resources to ensure that the exercise is carried out within a week after the public holiday.

On the issue of the epileptic power supply, Governor Bello said a transformer that would effectively serve them had been procured and would soon be fixed.

The Sarkin Sudan Kontagora thanked the governor for the immense support he was giving the emirate, assuring of total support for government policies geared towards the development of the emirate as the emirate is taking cognisance of visitors.
