Kogi State NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Aliyu Abdullahi who disclosed this on Saturday in a statement, said the State Commandant of the Corps, Esther Akinlade encouraged the officers to demonstrate a high sense of discipline and professionalism in their service to the nation.

The Commandant noted that training and retraining of personnel have become imperative for officers and men to acquaint themselves with the latest skills in weapon handling.

Akinlade stressed that this followed the trends of attacks on security personnel, security formations, critical national assets and infrastructures.

The Commandant stressed that the personnel have undergone rigorous and intensive training for the period of 6 weeks after satisfying basic forensic and medical requirements before finally embarking on the shooting range classification.

Akinlade also emphasised on the need for professionalism and strict adherence to the acceptable standard of operation of the Corps and warned against any act of misuse or misconduct that negate the ethics of firearms.

She reiterated that the essence of these exercises was to offer maximum and better productivity to meet the nation’s expectations from the NSCDC in line with the policies and strategies put in place by the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi.

Akinlade commended the Commander, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig.-General Sidi alongside other security agencies for the unflinching support towards the success of the exercise.

She added that officers of the command were rigorously drilled in conformity to arms training both on G3 rifle and the AK-47 rifle, respectively.
