The Kaduna South senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr Sunday Marshall Katung, has said the current insecurity in Southern Kaduna is threatening sustainable food production in the region.
Katung stated this in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf local government area of the state at a meeting with representatives of the Nigerian Union Of Teachers (NUT), National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), presidents of Students Union Governments (SUG) from tertiary institutions and several other socio-cultural associations from the eight local governments that make up Kaduna South Senatorial District.
Katung said the wrong choice of leaders led to the spread of insecurity in the senatorial district, adding that people were now resorting to various means of survival.
While saying he would collaborate with relevant stakeholders on tackling the security challenges, he urged the people to allow the experiences of the past guide them in electing the right leaders in the coming general elections.
He also called on the people to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
Katung said as a way of understanding the problems of the senatorial district, he had conducted a needs assessment which candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party would work on when elected.
Some of the invited stakeholders listed insecurity, lack of inclusiveness, unemployment, lack of mentorship, and federal presence as some of the problems they requested the senatorial candidate to tackle when he gets elected into the National Assembly.
