American multinational tech company, Google, turns a quarter of a century on Wednesday and is marking its 25th birthday anniversary.
For its 25th birthday, Google created a special Doodle, the temporary alteration of Google’s regular logo that the search engine does for different holidays, events or to honour notable individuals.
Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, shared the doodle in a post via X. He wrote: “Happy 25th birthday @Google! 🎂 Thanks to everyone who uses our products and challenges us to keep innovating and to all Googlers!”
Google was incorporated on September 4, 1998, but the company began celebrating its anniversary on September 27 in 2005.
What started as a research project initially called “BackRub,” by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin eventually turned into the search engine we now know as Google.
Today, Google’s impact extends far beyond its search engine. With products like YouTube, Android, Gmail, and Google Maps, Google has become an integral part of daily life for billions of people across the globe.
Google’s influence in the tech world spread when it became the default search engine for Yahoo in 2000. AdWords was launched in October 2000, thereby laying the foundation for Google’s online advertising dominance.
Google’s 25th birthday or Silver Jubilee this year is definitely a no mean feat achieved by tech company.
