Inspector Killed In Clash Between Police, Soldiers In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Inspector Jacob Daniel during conflict between its operatives and soldiers in the State on Wednesday.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya, confirmed the incident to journalists in Yola, the state capital.

SP Yahaya said the conflict resulted in the exchange of gunfire and brutal attack on the Police Command headquarters and killing of Inspector Daniel.

Meawhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has strongly condemned the conflict between Police and military officers.

Babalola also ordered an immediate investigation into the matter with a view to ensuring peace and justice.

He warned that attacks on all security officers in the line of duty would no longer be tolerated under whatever guise.

He added that the Command holds the lives of all security personnel sacrosanct, and such unwarranted conflict would strictly be treated in accordance with extant laws.

The CP equally reiterated the commitment of the Command to protection of lives and property while stressing that it is vital to work with other sister security agents in protecting the fundamental rights of security operatives, in order to enable them advance their sacred mandate of serving and protecting the citizens better.

The Police boss appealed for calm as the top leaderships of both security agencies were doing everything possible to address the situation.
