Kaduna State Government is investing on human capital development because people should always be at the center of development and that is why its mantra is ‘’putting people first’’.

The Acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, stated this when she received the management and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development of Nigeria, Chief Cyril Ogboli, in her office.

She expressed government’s readiness to partner with the institute on capacity building and training of state and local governments employees to improve their performance and service delivery.

Earlier, the Chairman of the institute’s Board of Trustees, Chief Ogboli, who had commended the government for its commitment to human capital development, advocated for the setting up of a sustainability mechanism.

The BoT Chairman said that members of the institute came to share their thoughts on how to “partner with the state government to develop human capital in whatever shape or form”.

‘’We do possess in our midst very credible, very competent individuals who we know can make a difference, to accelerate what is being done because we believe we can always do more,’’ he said.

Ogboli suggested that enabling people to become stakeholders and members of the institute will guarantee sustainability because professional bodies are lifelong membership organizations.

‘’We believe that when people belong to such bodies and interact and go for trainings, they make it a lifestyle as against when it is made a job designation or something they have to do as a duty,’’ he argued.

The Chairman advised that key government officials should be members of the institute, adding that they appreciate those that are on board, but ‘’ are willing to bring more people on board.’’

He said that the institute is ready to train state and local government staff in the key focal areas of human capital and to partner with the administration to add value in what it is doing currently.
