As part of efforts to generate revenue for the federal government research institute, Projects Development Institute (PRODA), Enugu, has begun efforts to partner foreign investors to actualise its lithium ore project.
The project, when actualised will reduce Nigeria’s dependence on foreign batteries and provide more jobs for Nigerians, the institute said.
The director general, Engr. Dr. Peter Okwudilichukwu Ogbobe, disclosed this while speaking with journalists during the productivity merit award and end of the year staff get together.
Ogbobe said as part of efforts to actualise the project, they had already sent some people to India to acquire some knowledge.
He said government alone cannot fund all the agencies, hence the plan to get foreign investors to fund the project.
The director general said the they were working hard to get indigenous formulation for the project.
On the awardees, Ogbobe explained that they were selected by members of the staff and not management.
He encouraged other staff to see the award as part of motivation and work harder and assured that they would continue to re-evaluate what they did.
