Inter Milan Interest Puts Fulham On Alert Over Super Eagles Star Bassey

Fulham are considering offering Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey a new contract amid reported interest from Italian giants Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key figure at Craven Cottage since joining Fulham from Ajax three years ago in a move that made him the most expensive Nigerian defender at the time.

Bassey has made 105 appearances for Fulham in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist. His performances were rewarded when he was named the club’s Player of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign.

The defender made 30 Premier League appearances last season and was also part of the Nigeria squad that claimed bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

His importance to the London club has remained undiminished following Marco Silva’s departure, with new manager Álvaro Arbeloa handing Bassey the captain’s armband in each of Fulham’s first three league matches of the season.

His consistent performances have reportedly attracted interest from several European clubs, with Serie A giants Inter Milan among those monitoring his situation.

Bassey’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2027, but Fulham are under no immediate pressure to sell. The club have an option to extend his current deal by a further year.

The possibility of a new contract could therefore provide Fulham with additional protection against interest in the Nigeria international as Inter weigh up a potential move.
