In a chat with LEADERSHIP Weekend, a man who simply  gave his name as Andoyin, who is one of those basket makers at Maryland under bridge adviced investors to start buying bulk baskets with assorted products before the prices would jump up as rhe festivity period steps in.

“With N500, 000 and one million, one can employ hamper-baaket makers that are station at strategic places for mass-production of the baskets. And one can make millions of Naira at the end of the seasonal sales “

“Investors can use more attractive wrap with beautifully designed and with attractive colour of baskets will attract customers because it’s not what they are used to. Investors can use the services of trusted family members for this seasonal business.”

There are many ways to raise funds for the business. The best way is to rely on your personal savings to start. Similarly, you could take a loan from the bank or seek funding from investors with your designed business plan.

Moreover, you could involve your family members and friends as investors in the business.

A visit by this medium to Apongbon and Oke-Arin Markets in Idumota, Lagos Island, revealed empty containers of baskets, where cost of empty basket goes for N4, 500 or more, depending on the size. Similarly, smaller loaded hamper baskets, is being sold from N60,000.

Although, buyers have started lamenting against the unaffordable hampers in the markets, investors can use this opportunity of a possible high demand to increase his/her investment at reduced rate to attract more buyers and make quick money.

A visit by LEADERSHIP to these markets discovered that some buyers merely came to know the prices without readiness to buy.

“Few of the buyers, who refused mentioning their names, said: “Buying and giving hampers are going to be very tough this year. But because it is a necessity to give some people irrespective of cost, they will only buy very few to those who they think. According them, the high cost will only reduce the numbers of hampers  one will buy,”
