Taraba State commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, has said the sustained investment in the education sector will expand access and improve academic performance in the state.

Godwin made the observation during an inspection tour of the nearly completed model school projects, executed under the free and compulsory education reform agenda of Governor Agbu Kefas.

The schools visited by the commissioner, include Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Jalingo, Government Day Secondary School (GDSS), Nukkai, and GDSS, Jauro Yinu

Dr. Godwin described the initiative as a significant milestone in the state’s drive to improve the quality of education in the state.

She said, the Model Schools initiative was aimed at providing a conducive learning environment, promoting modern teaching standards, and addressing challenges of inadequate classroom space, poor infrastructure, and overcrowding in public primary and secondary schools across the state.

She noted that, although work was progressing satisfactorily, some areas identified required improvement in one of the schools, and assured the site engineer that necessary corrections would be made promptly.
