The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged political parties in Yobe State to participate in the forthcoming local government election.
The IPAC state chairman, Umar Adamu Jajere made the plea while addressing newsmen in Damaturu.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the umpire of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) to shun partisan politics and discharge its duties as required by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We also acknowledge the commitment of the governor to making sure that the election takes place in a free, fair and conducive environment.
“We commend the Yobe State governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni for the equal/ level playing ground provided for all the candidates of various registered political parties.”
Jajere called on eligible voters to come out enmass and vote for the party of their choice on May 25, 2024.
In their response, PDP state publicity secretary, Salihu Mohammed Baba, stated that the Yobe State chapter of the party has remained strong, sound and resilient over time.
According to him, Yobe local government council elections have never been free, fair, credible and impartial under the state commission since inception.
