The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has raised the alarm over plots to attack churches and markets in the South-East zone.
The hoodlums, according to spokesman of the separatist group, Emma Powerful, are already in various communities in the zone.
He said the hoodlums are non-natives and disguise themselves as new Christian converts in the various churches.
The IPOB spokesman who disclosed this yesterday said the hoodlums have also infiltrated various markets in the zone, and that most of them speak Igbo language, but, “they are merely mercenaries plotting to launch attacks on the markets.”
He stated that the mercenaries would disguise as having converted to Christianity and would adopt Christian names to convince leaders of the various churches, but, warned that they are just buying time to perfect their plans to launch attack on the church just the same way the Catholic Church at Owo, Ondo State, was attacked recently.
Powerful who stated that the plot was gathered by the “M. Branch” intelligence unit of the group advised the leadership of churches to henceforth “introduce tighter and properly detailed security measures” around their worship centres.
The IPOB spokesman stated that “These terrorists and bandits have flooded Biafraland, especially the commercial cities like Aba, in Abia State where Pastor Kumuyi had chosen for his aborted crusade.
“They parade themselves as having converted to Christianity and as having been rejected by their Muslim families in the North, which for us is tragedy waiting to happen.
“They now attach Christian names to their names as religious tricks to have you accept them. Examples Emmanuel Kabiru Sule, Mathew Christian Shehu, John Lewis Katsina and others.
“They tell very pathetic stories that touches the hearts of people of conscience like the Igbo, please don’t believe them; they are terrorists and bandits. Christians in Biafraland should know that they are the next target and they must take absolute security precautions as their plans are deadlier than can be imagined”.
He advised people in the zone to avoid staying late outside henceforth saying “Always return home early, recognize and note the people and things around you”.
