The deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has said the Indigenous People Of Biafra cannot arm-twist the federal government to release its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Kalu was speaking to newsmen before flagging-off the distribution of various food items and other materials to the 17 local governments in Abia State at his country home in Bende, headquarters of Bende local government.
“You can never arm-twist the government. You can dialogue; you can show cause as the best approach to secure his release,” he said.
He noted that dialogue, as being campaigned for by his recently inaugurated pet project, Peace In South East-Project, remained the most reliable option to secure peace and security in the zone.
He said he was aware that some leaders of the zone believe that once Kanu is released, security would be restored in the zone, but without showing strong direction on how to achieve it.
