The Iranian authorities on Wednesday, executed a man identified as Babak Shahbazi over accusation of spying for Israeli intelligence service, Mossad.

Iran has in recent months executed individuals with proven links with Mossad which they said enabled the Israelis operations in the country.

Such executions of suspicious Iranians spying for Israel increased in 2025, with at least nine death sentences carried out in recent months.

According to Iranian state media, Shahbazi had worked alongside another convict executed in June, Esmaeil Fekri, for spying for Israel since early 2022.

Shahbazi was accused of using his position as a contractor installing cooling devices to collect information from sensitive locations such as server rooms as well as centres linked to the military and security apparatus.
