Oyo State governor, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared Tuesday, August 20, 2024, as a public holiday to mark the 2024 Isese Day.
Isese means tradition and it has millions of adherents in Yoruba land.
The declaration, according to credible sources, was conveyed through a circular issued by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo
The declaration of August 20 as a work-free day followed a promise made last year by Governor Makinde, recognising the day as one set aside annually to celebrate Yoruba traditions and culture by traditional worshippers across the state.
The circular enjoined all traditional religion adherents and the rest of the citizens of the state to use the day to pray for the peace, unity and stability of Oyo State in particular, and the country in general.
