International Theatre Institute (ITI) will host two events on the sidelines of UNESCO’s 2024 World Conference On Culture and Arts Education scheduled for February 13 to 15, at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

First held in Lisbon, Portugal in 2006, then in Seoul, South Korea, 2010, the conference aims at adopting a framework for Culture and Arts Education, which will enable UNESCO member states to shape integrated strategies and policies that anchor the cultural dimension in educational systems, and support them to invest in nurturing skills and competencies, notably through culture and arts, that respond to contemporary needs and opportunities.

While the third edition will converge culture and education ministers from around the world in view of adopting the framework, the conference also welcomes relevant UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations and UNESCO networks and partners in the field of culture and education to share practices and innovative ideas, as well as strengthen a global alliance for culture and arts education.

“Since culture, the arts and education belong to the ‘DNA’ of the ITI and the ITI UNESCO Network for Higher Education, it is essential that both entities are participating and contributing their know-how and knowledge to this extraordinary event,” said ITI Director General, Tobias Biancone.
