The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has refuted rumour claiming that she had stepped down from her position.
Meranda’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, debunked the rumour on Wednesday, clarifying that his principal is presently in her office doing her job as the Speaker of the House.
“I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye said.
“It is a lie from the pit of hell. There is no truth in the story. I am doing my work as the CPS, the Speaker is her office as we speak and everybody is talking about his or her business. We do not know where the story is coming from. The Speaker has not resigned and there is no plan for that,” he added.
A fake letter dated February 17, 2025, allegedly written by Meranda had also been trending for two days, with the content claiming she had resigned.
However, checks on the letter circulating on social media showed it wasn’t signed by anyone.
The Lagos State House of Assembly has been rocked with a leadership crisis since the former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was removed by the majority of the lawmakers at the House.
