The chairman of Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, Hon Chidiebere Uzor Agwu, yesterday insisted that he has no hand in the violence that erupted at the Amautu townhall polling unit which led to the death of Oyibo Nwani, an agent of the Action Alliance.
Hon Agwu maintained that he was not at the polling unit when the incident occurred adding that he never sent anybody to the polling unit as had been “maliciously alleged by the opposition party in Onicha LGA.”
The council boss disclosed this in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend, urging members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party who have taken to the social media to accuse him of the act to desist from doing so.
“The PDP and LP members who have been writing bosh and accusing me of masterminding the killing of Oyibo without hearing from me should prepare to provide enough evidence in court to substantiate their criminal allegations against me when called upon, as I am prepared to get to the root of this matter.
“I wish to assure the family of Oyibo, my good people of Amautu, and Onicha Igboeze in general that I will give every necessary support and assistance to the security agencies to ensure proper investigation, arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime,” he said.
