JAMB Warns Varsities Over Delay In Admission Submissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned universities on failure to submit their 2025 admission recommendations within the approved timelines despite clear resolutions from the policy meeting on admissions held earlier in the year.

The board expressed concern that despite the ample time and clear directives, several institutions have yet to submit any admission recommendations through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) the official platform for all admissions in Nigeria.

In a statement issued in Abuja signed by JAMB’s spokesman, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board noted that it was particularly troubling that some public universities had failed to meet the September deadline, in direct violation of the policy meeting’s resolutions.

The statement reminded institutions that even if they were not ready to commence academic activities, they were still expected to process and archive their admissions in line with the approved schedule.

Consequently, the following institutions have been directed to immediately commence their 2025 admission processes: Northwest University, Kano; Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil; Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil; Benue State University, Makurdi; Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna; Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna; Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo; and Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua.

Dr Benjamin emphasised that failure to comply with the approved timelines would attract strict consequences. He warned that all unprocessed candidates from defaulting institutions would be automatically reassigned to the next available tier of tertiary institutions for possible consideration.

“The board strongly urges these universities to commence their 2025 admission processes without further delay.  Failure to act within the approved timelines will result in all unprocessed candidates being moved automatically to the next available tier of institutions for possible consideration,” the statement added.
