American actor and film producer Jason Momoa has opened up about how the storm that caused severe flooding affected his family and his home state of Hawaii.

The actor, who was born in Hawaii, revealed in an Instagram Stories post that he and his family were staying near O’ahu’s North Shore when the area became flooded. They had to leave following the power outage.

“I got my family with me. We got out of the North Shore… our power went out. We’re safe for now, but there are a lot of people who weren’t, so we’re sending all our love,” he recounted.

The Aquaman actor went on to say that the North Shore is dangerous at the moment and hopes everyone is safe and going out of the area. “Stay safe out there,” he said poignantly.

Authorities issued a warning, urging people to evacuate the area, stating that hundreds had been rescued on O’ahu so far.

The governor of Hawaii, Joshua Green, noted that the cost of the flooding may exceed $1 billion, calling it the worst Hawaii has seen in over 20 years.
