The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah, (JIBWIS Nigeria), under the leadership of Sheikh Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to fostering peace, unity, and mutual respect between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

In the face of rising tensions following statements made by the Niger Republic’s leader, Brig. General Abdoulrahmane Tchiani, against Nigeria’s president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, JIBWIS Nigeria took proactive steps to ease tensions and promote dialogue.

Recognising the long-standing historical, cultural, and religious ties between Nigeria and Niger Republic, JIBWIS Nigeria dispatched a delegation led by its National Secretary, Sheikh Muhammad Kabiru Haruna Gombe, to Niamey, Niger Republic, for a preaching session. This initiative aimed to reaffirm the bonds of brotherhood between the two neighbouring countries and emphasise the importance of peaceful coexistence.

JIBWIS Nigeria has been instrumental in fostering peace and unity not only within Nigeria but also across borders.

Under Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau’s leadership, the organisation has prioritised dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful preaching as tools for conflict resolution and societal harmony.

The delegation to Niger Republic was a reflection of this commitment. By engaging directly with the people and religious communities in the Niger Republic, JIBWIS Nigeria aimed to clear misunderstandings and dispel any negative perceptions that could threaten bilateral relations. This approach highlights the organisation’s role as a bridge builder between communities, reinforcing shared values and mutual respect.

Having come this far, let me digress a little by clarifying misconceptions about Sheikh Kabiru Gombe’s statement. During his preaching session in Niamey, Niger Republic, Sheikh Muhammad Kabiru Gombe, known for his jovial and engaging preaching style, addressed the audience in a manner consistent with his long-standing approach to religious communication. His style has garnered him millions of followers due to its accessibility and relatability.

However, certain groups, labelled as ” undesirable elements”, have attempted to misinterpret his words, portraying them as disrespectful or divisive. It is important to clarify that Sheikh Kabiru Gombe’s statement was not intended to insult or disgrace anyone. Rather, it was a heartfelt reminder to the youth of the Niger Republic about the historical and cultural ties between their country and Nigeria. His statement underscores the need to uphold mutual respect for each nation’s leadership and to prioritise peace and unity over conflicts.

Nigeria and Niger Republic share deep-rooted historical, cultural and religious connections. These ties go beyond political boundaries and are anchored in shared values, family relations, trade and cultural exchanges.

Maintaining peace and unity between these two neighbouring nations is crucial for their development and the overall stability of the West African region.

Islam, as a religion of peace, encourages Muslims to foster harmony, mutual respect and brotherhood. JIBWIS Nigeria embodies these principles by promoting peaceful dialogue and discouraging actions that could lead to discord.

Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau and the entire leadership of JIBWIS Nigeria are dedicated to ensuring that the bonds between Nigeria and the Niger Republic remain strong, undisturbed by external influences or misinterpretations.

To those who have misunderstood or deliberately distorted Sheikh Kabiru Gombe’s statement, it is essential to reflect on the broader purpose of his words. His intent was to remind both Nigerians and Nigeriens of their shared history and the necessity of respecting each other’s leadership.

Divisive rhetoric and false narratives only serve to weaken the fabric of unity that both countries have built over generations.

Peace and mutual respect are foundational to progress. JIBWIS Nigeria calls on all individuals, especially the youth, to reject division and embrace the values of brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence. JIBWIS Nigeria, under Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, remains steadfast in its mission to bridge gaps and foster lasting peace between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

The efforts of JIBWIS Nigeria under Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau reflect a sincere commitment to peace and unity. By actively engaging in dialogue and preaching harmony, the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS Nigeria, continue to play a vital role in strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and Niger Republic. Both countries can continue to thrive as brothers and sisters through understanding, mutual respect, and unwavering commitment to peace.

Anyone attempting to create an unnecessary negative perception about the statements made by Sheikh Kabiru Gombe during his preaching session in Niamey, Niger Republic, is likely doing so with the intent to tarnish both his personal reputation and that of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah under the leadership of Sheikh Dr Abdullahi Bala Lau.

It is common for individuals or groups with hidden agendas to misinterpret or twist statements made by influential figures to serve their own interests. In this case, detractors may deliberately take Sheikh Kabiru Gombe’s words out of context to undermine his influence, discredit JIBWIS Nigeria as a very successful religious organisation under Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, or just try to create conflict between the two neighbouring countries to serve the interests of those who benefit from instability.
