All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has flagged off campaign for the forthcoming October Local Government Council Election in the state.
Speaking at the flag off of the zonal campaign held at the ancient city of Hadejia, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi, said local government election is one of the critical components of democracy in Nigeria.
Namadi noted that his government is committed to ensure peaceful conduct of the election for strengthening the democratic development in the state.
He told the gathering of APC faithful that their party had in the last nine years delivered the dividends of democracy to every community in the state.
“You all bear witness to our commitment to improve social and economic life of the Jigawa State people through execution of various projects and programs under our 12 point agenda, therefore voting for APC candidates at all the 27 local government areas will help us in our collective effort toward making Jigawa state Great.
“I call on all good people of Jigawa state to vote for our party candidates as we have confidence in their loyalty, patriotism, transparency and commitment to serve the state and humanity in accordance with our party philosophy and our 12 point agenda,” the governor said.
In his speech, the state APC chairman, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel, charged party members to go to every village, town, city and house to campaign for the party candidates as they have all evidence to show concerning the positive impact of APC government which has transformed Jigawa State in all economic ramifications.
“We have confidence that Jigawa people will overwhelmingly vote for our candidates, but since it is part of democratic tradition to go out for campaign during election period, let us uphold the tradition and use it as time to meet and greet with all people of the state” Gumel stated.
