Jigawa Apologises To  Retirees, Begins Payment Of N2.024bn Entitlements

Jigawa State government has apologised to retirees as it  commenced the payment of N2.024,772,779.47 being workers retirement benefits and other entitlements two month behind schedule.

Addressing newsmen, the executive secretary, State and Local Government Contributory Pension Board, Alhaji Kamilu Musa said 746 workers are to benefit from the payment.

He stated that the last payment was made in March and that this is the second exercise this year.

Malam Kamilu explained that, 144 people will receive the sum of N1,785,297,061.55 as retirement benefits, 27 people to be paid N212,071,042.96 as death benefits,N26,856,455.06 to be paid as death pension balance of 7 people and N548,219.90 as refund to one person.

The executive secretary added that the beneficiaries were workers who served under state government, local government or local education authority.

Malam Kamilu apologised for the two months delay in the payment of the entitlements, saying that the delay was caused by the review and repositioning of the board as directed by the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi.

He assured workers in the state that the board will continue to ensure prompt payment of their entitlements and safety of their savings.
