Jigawa State government has approved N1.096 billion for road and drainage projects in Babura and Miga local government areas.

The state commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture announced this to reporters during a briefing on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

He said the projects include the construction of access roads, culverts, and drainage infrastructure on the Sansani–Ganau–Samai Road in the Miga local government area and the Limintani–Kagadama Road in the Babura local government area.

According to him, the Sansani–Ganau–Samai Road culverts and drainage project was approved at the sum of  N346.998 million while  the Limintani–Kagadama Road culverts and drainage project cost N748.730 million.

The commissioner said the construction of the culverts and drainage infrastructure would help to mitigate flooding, improve rainwater flow and drainage, protect road infrastructure and properties, and provide safer, smoother access for residents and road users in the beneficiary communities.

The projects will also contribute to improved connectivity and the transportation of goods and services, which are critical components in promoting socioeconomic activities and development in society.

During the meeting, the council approved the award of a contract for the renovation of dilapidated classroom blocks across the state under the 2026 Capital Development Programme, at a total sum of  N405.160 million.

The approval was part of the state government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of educational infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning in the state.
