Jigawa State government through its Ministry of Renewable Energy has opened tender for the award of N1.2 billion contract for the supply and installation of street light.
Speaking at the tender opening for the award of the contract held at the conference hall of the ministry, the state commissioner for Renewable Energy, Hon Engr Surajo Musa, said it would be executed in Dutse, the capital and Hadejia city.
He explained that the project was not only for beautifying the places but also for enhancing the security of the beneficiaries.
“The project is part of Governor Malam Umar Namadi 12 point agenda which included using all measures required to protect life and properties of Jigawa citizens, and certainly the provision of such street lights will fortify the security of the areas.
“ Beside Dutse capital and Hadejia, there are many towns and cities that similar project is being carried out presently in the state for strengthening peace, security and betterment of Jigawa citizens,” Hon Surajo stated.
The commissioner assured the participating contractors that the ministry would uphold due process in line with the procurement act in selecting the winner and pledged to ensure Jigawa State fulfils its contractual obligations, including timely payment.
He also warned the contractors that the government would not condone any act of breaching contractual agreement, such as delay tactics or substandard projects, and noted that they would not be hesitant to terminate any poorly executed contract.
