Jigawa Communiy Mourns As 4 Girls Die In Canoe Accident

Four girls have been confirmed dead in a canoe accident which occurred on Dudduru River in Kwadige Village, Dutse local government area of Jigawa State.

The accident occurred when a canoe carrying eight passengers was on its way to Sabuwar Chai Chai Market in a neighbouring village.
The accident has thrown the community into mourning.

Confirming the incident, the commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),

Jigawa State Command, CC Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, said it occurred late Wednesday evening.

He said of the eight passengers, four people were rescued while four girls were confirmed dead.

According to him, the deceased included Hasiya Mu’azu, 13 years, Hauwa Lawan, 13 years, Fatima Lawan, 12 years, Dawsiyya Lawan, 13 years

He revealed that the corpses of the victims were recovered from the river and handed over to their families for burial.
