The member representing Gwaram federal constituency of Jigawa State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Shitu Galambi, has defected from his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Galambi announced his defection from the opposition to the ruling party in a letter read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at resumed plenary of the House on Thursday.
The lawmaker said his decision to leave NNPP was due to the lingering crisis in the party, which led to litigations and leadership crisis that have continued to affect the party’s operation.
His defection brought the total number of opposition lawmakers who defected to APC in the 10th House of Representatives to 11. Some of the defectors included Hon. Chris Nkwonta (Abia), Hon. Eriatheke Ibori-Suenu (Delta), Hon. Suleiman Gumi (Zamfara), Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji (Kaduna).
Others were Hon. Tochukwu Okere (Imo), Hon. Donatus Mathew (Kaduna), Hon. Bassey Akiba (Cross River), Hon. Iyawe Esosa (Edo), Hon. Alfred Ajang (Plateau), and Hon. Dalyop Chollom (Plateau).
