Governor Umar Namadi stated this during the flag-off of the state 2024 tree-planting campaign, which has 5.5 seedlings for distribution across the state.

Governor Namadi said the 2024 tree-planting campaign is unique, with a unique approach to addressing the menace of desertification and other factors of environmental degradation.

He said his 12-point agenda includes conserving and protecting the environment and natural resources for future generations, and he is ready to collaborate with any partner to achieve the desired goals.

Governor Namadi stated that 80 percent of the seedlings in the 2024 tree planting campaign are economic trees, which, in addition to providing environmental protection, will also provide fruits and income.

He then reiterated his government’s commitment to working with the general public to ensure the trees grow to maturity.

In his speech at the flag-off ceremony held at Andaza town of Kiyawa local, the state commissioner of environment, Hon Nura Ibrahim, said that in the 2024 tree-planting campaign, they will collaborate with all government agencies, civil societies, community organisations, public, and private partners to plant and nurture the trees.

He noted that planting trees is like planting more hope for a better future because trees support environmental protection and conservation, which are critical for human survival.
