Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar Namadi, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring child protection, access to education, and the promotion of children’s well-being to enable them to develop their full potential for future challenges.
The governor made this statement during the celebration of International Children’s Day, marked by parades and sports activities involving students from various schools at the Malam Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Aminu Usman, the governor, emphasised that his administration is ready to invest whatever it takes to create an enabling environment for every child to grow with opportunities to explore their potential in line with their destiny.
“We will continue to enact and reinforce laws to provide legal protection for children against any form of inhuman violence, ensure access to education, and incorporate extracurricular activities such as skills acquisition to broaden their opportunities.
“Under our 12-point agenda, we have expanded access to basic healthcare through free medical services for children under five and pregnant women, social insurance, the renovation and upgrading of health facilities, provision of clean drinking water and sanitation, improved nutrition, and other key components necessary for effective child development.
“We are addressing the high rate of out-of-school children through various innovations and approaches, including the integration of Almajiri education into the formal system, community mobilisation, and enrollment campaign, efforts that are already yielding positive results,” the governor stated.
Governor Namadi thanked teachers, headteachers, and other education managers for their tireless efforts in implementing the state government’s policies.
He also thanked parents and assured them that his administration would continue to support children until they reach their full potential.
