Organised by Parliament Diary Dialogue, the event aims to promote informed dialogue and enhance understanding of complex issues affecting Nigeria and the ECOWAS region.

The ceremony took place in Abuja. The theme, “Coups d’etats and ECOWAS Unity: The Role of National Assemblies,” provided a platform for speakers to discuss the role of National Assemblies in addressing coups and fostering ECOWAS unity.

In a statement issued by Alex Nwankwo, he said the event featured a keynote speech and a panel discussion with representatives from the Nigerian government, National Assembly, military, ECOWAS Commission, ECOWAS Parliament, and civil societies. The awards recognised individuals who have significantly contributed to promoting good governance and democracy in Africa.

It added that Hon. Jim Chimezie has recently received several accolades, including the Nigerian Soccer Ambassador 2024 award from Miss Football Nigeria and being named National Patron of Miss Football Nigeria at an event held at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.
