Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) has appealed to the federal government to include the council in the membership of National Council on Establishment (NCE).

The call was part of the eight points contained in a communique issued at the end of a three-day national workshop organised by the council national leadership in partnership with Michael lmoudu National Institute of Labour Studies.

The communique which was jointly signed by the national chairman, Comrade Benjamin Anthony and the secretary, Comrade Bomoi Mohammed Ibraheem said the membership of NCE would enable workers representatives to be part of decision makers on issues affecting workers in the public service.

JNPSNC also appealed for the implementation of ILO Convention 190 of 2019 which focuses on promoting equality and equity for all men and women in the workplace.

It tasked stakeholders in the council to live up to expectations in their statutory responsibilities of the council as ordained at formation in 1948 of Whitley Council which is known today as joint National Public Service Negotiating Council.

It also resolved that the government and employers of labour should begin to honour collective bargaining agreements freely entered into between two or more parties in order to guarantee industrial peace in the workplace.

The communique equally expressed concern over the untold hardship pensioners face in assessing their pensions and gratuities benefits which it said is often characterised with prolonged verification of pensioners. To mitigate against this inhuman treatment, it added that harmonisation of pension should be included during negotiations for national minimum wage.
