Members of Joint Communities Security Watch for Kwara South district have been charged to intensify surveillance patrols in their respective domains to ward off any type of crimes especially kidnaping and armed robbery during the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
Coordinator of the local security outfit, Elder Oyin Zubair maintained that members of the group are a reliable integral part of the security architecture working with official uniformed security agencies protecting lives and property in the zone.
“Having therefore been recognised as such, it behooves the group members to work relentlessly to justify the confidence reposed in them both by the public and government at all levels,” he added in a statement.
The coordinator also enjoined group members to make the Sallah holiday free of crime in their domains by mounting road and in-house surveillance against men of the underworld.
He charged members as security volunteers to work closely with the Police and other security operatives during the discharge of their duties, stressing that any crime detected should be reported to appropriate authorities.
He warned that the organisation would not condone members’ overzealousness and or taking laws into their hands when treating suspects of any crimes.
Oyin-Zubair also cautioned travellers to avoid night journeys especially during the Sallah holidays but assured all and sundry of maximum security which will be free of causality like the last Christmas and Easter holidays in the zone.
