Jos Disco Flays Invasion Of Bauchi Head Office By NAF Personnel

The management of Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) has condemned the invasion of its Bauchi State Head Office by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) over disconnection of its residential quarters due to prolonged non-payment of electricity bill accruing from the facility.

LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that Nigerian Air Force, Bauchi State has a huge outstanding electricity bill prompting the disconnection of the residential quarters.

In a statement issued in Jos, the company’s head of Corporate Communications, Saratu Aliyu Dauda, explained that the residential quarters have historically not made any payment for electricity consumed adding that the matter was addressed in accordance with the applicable regulatory and operational procedure culminating in the disconnection of electricity supply to the quarters.

“It is deeply concerning and unacceptable that rather than seek redress through the appropriate regulatory, administrative or legal channels, personnel of NAF resorted to an unwarranted and intimidating show of force by invading the company’s Bauchi office and forcibly taking away the state operating officer, Mr Samaila Bukar and unconfirmed number of JED metre installers,” the statement said.

JED management insisted that their staff were conveyed in a vehicle belonging to NAF to the said disconnected quarters where they were subjected to intense physical assault adding that the state operating officer was reportedly threatened with further severe assault unless electricity in the quarters is restored.
