Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JoSTUM) men’s football team, Tillers, have been crowned champions of the 2024 Varsity Men’s Football Cup.
The team defeated their University of Ilorin counterparts 4-3 in an electrifying final held in Benin City, Edo State, to emerge champions of the maiden Varsity Football Cup tournament.
The tightly contested final match saw both sides battling fiercely, but the Tillers overwhelmed Unilorin with their remarkable skill, resilience, and teamwork to clinch the trophy to the delight of the teeming fans and followers.
Excited by their remarkable feat, the university community has applauded the players, coaches and supporters who made the triumph possible.
The competition is pioneering inclusion in collegiate football in a collaboration between Perform Agency and the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA). It is sponsored by Moniepoint, in partnership with Minimie, Brila and Hyphen Sports.
