A group, Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum has called on Governor Uba Sani to implement the court judgement annulling the dethronement of Piriga monarch, Chief Jonathan Paraguwa Zamuna.
The forum commended Governor Sani on his security measures in Kaduna State and urged him to uphold the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
In a statement issued by the forum chairman, Ango Bally, the journalists emphasised the importance of implementing a recent court judgement that nullified the dethronement of the Piriga monarch, Chief Zamuna.
The court judgement declared the dethronement null and void and ordered for the reinstatement of Chief Zamuna with all privileges restored.
The forum also commended Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher Gwabin Musa, for their collaborative efforts in tackling insecurity in the state.
It acknowledged the establishment of three new military commands and an Air Force base in strategic locations across the state, which they believe will significantly impact war against banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats in the region.
It noted that the presence of additional military personnel is expected to improve security and provide farmers with a sense of safety so that they can access their lands without fear. It added that this development is particularly crucial for areas consistently targeted by banditry attacks.
It said Governor Sani’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the people is evident through his distribution of 150 patrol vehicles and 500 motorbikes to various security agencies in the state, adding that this initiative demonstrates his dedication to enhancing security measures.
The forum also commended him for his efforts to promote unity and inclusivity in the state, saying the formation of the Kaduna Elders Forum, co-chaired by highly respected personalities, is a positive step towards achieving sustainable peace and development.
It also urged Governor Sani to address the issue of skewed political appointments that have disadvantaged the southern region, adding that these appointments have contributed to religious divisions within the state and called for practical steps to reconcile these divisions and promote inclusive politics.
