Judicial Service Commission in Bauchi has dismissed a Shari’a Court Judge, Umar Ibrahim for alleged gross misconduct.
LEADERSHIP learnt that the dismissed judge served at Jalam Shari’ah Court in Dambam local government area of the state.
Confirming the dismissal of the judge in a statement made available to reporters in Bauchi, the chairman of the commission, Dr Ibrahim Danjuma said the decision was in line with the commission’s mandate to ensure that all judicial officers adhere to ethical and professional conduct.
He explained that alleged misconducts for which the judge was disengaged violated the code of ethics and principles governing the judiciary.
Dr Danjuma said the actions taken were expected to maintain and sustain public confidence in the judicial system.
Similarly, the Judicial Service Commission introduced promotion exams for staff members from grade level 8 and above to test staff knowledge of the law, judicial processes, ethical standards and understanding of their roles in the judiciary.
