The newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has arrived at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa for his formal decoration with the new rank of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) by President Bola Tinubu.
Disu arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, about 24 hours after his appointment was announced by the Presidency.
His elevation followed the resignation of former Inspector-General, Kayode Egbetokun, whose exit from office was confirmed earlier on Tuesday.
The Presidency, through the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said President Tinubu accepted Egbetokun’s resignation after he cited family-related issues requiring his undivided attention.
“President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who stepped down from office to attend to pressing family considerations,” Onanuga stated.
Disu, a respected senior officer and former head of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team, is expected to be decorated in a brief ceremony to be attended by top government officials and security chiefs at the Presidential Villa.
