JUST-IN: Again, Hoodlums Kill 3 Policemen In Ebonyi

Less than 48 hours after hoodlums shot dead a police officer at the Union Bank Junction in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, hoodlums, on Wednesday, also attacked and killed three police operatives in Oshiri, Onicha local government area of the State

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, he said that the hoodlums attacked the operatives at about 08:30hrs on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

She noted that the operatives of the Command were on a Stop and Search duty at Oshiri Division when they were attacked by armed hoodlums.

“Sadly, three Police men lost their lives, one was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” the PPRO stated.

She added that the Tactical teams of the Command were immediately drafted to the area to go after the hoodlums, noting that two of the hoodlums were shot dead by the police while others escaped with bullet wounds.

SP Onovwakpoyeya said that the items recovered from the hoodlums included one Lexus car ES350 Model, one fabricated AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine with seven rounds of ammunition and one SMG rifle.

Other items included one SMG magazine with 8 rounds of ammunition, a pack of hard drugs (SK), charms, juju drums and charka musical instrument for Shrine.

The Police Public Relations Officer added that the State Commissioner Of Police, CP Faleye Olayele, appealed to members of the public to report anyone with bullet wound or suspicious character in order to apprehend those still at large.
