The former vice president arrived the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Katsina aboard a private jet at about 11:25am from where he went straight to Daura where he met the Nigeria’s immediate past president.

Atiku was accompanied on the visit by former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; former National Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Tsauri, party stakeholders and his supporters.

Speaking with journalists in Katsina after the visit, the former vice president said he paid the former president and the Emir of Daura visit to congratulate them for the successful celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festivity.

Atiku however declined comment on the leadership tussle within the PDP in Katsina State, stating that the people will decide who should lead them at the party’s congress.

Observers however believe that the visit may not be unconnected with the plan by the former vice president to start restrategising ahead of the 2027 election.

Atiku and his delegation also visited the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq Umar after which he returned to Katsina to pay condolence visit on Alhaji Lawal Kaita and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman over the death of his son.
