A branch of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) on Lagos Island was engulfed in flames on Tuesday afternoon, with videos circulating online showing the intensity of the blaze.

The fire, which broke out in the bank building, drew immediate attention as thick smoke and flames rose into the air, sparking panic among residents and passersby in the area. Emergency services have since mobilised to the scene in an effort to contain the inferno.

In the video, a man is seen climbing down a ladder from the building as others held down the ladder for him apparently as part of evacuation exercise.
