The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered prominent businessman, Oba Otudeko to appear before it and take his plea in the ongoing ₦30 billion fraud case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The presiding judge, Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, on Monday, ruled that Otudeko must be arraigned before any application challenging the court’s jurisdiction can be entertained.

LEADERSHIP reports that the EFCC had earlier filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko and three others over an alleged fraudulent loan transaction.

However, at the hearing, the judge maintained that the defendant must first enter a plea before any jurisdictional objections could be considered.

Following this ruling, the court adjourned the case to May 8.
