Barely 72 hours after Akure North Local Government chairman, Bankole Ogbesetore, died, his vice chairman, Hon. Anthony Adebusola, has also passed away.
A source told LEADERSHIP that the Vice Chairman died after a brief illness.
As at the time of filing this report, the Local Government secretariat was enveloped in sadness over the tragedy.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had last week paid a condolence visit to the residence of the late Chairman, before the death of the Vice Chairman on Sunday, July 16.
When the deceased chairman, Bankole Ogbesetore, died last week, the Vice Chairman immediately replaced him as the acting chairman of Akure North Local Government Area.
However, Adebusola’s sudden death has rattled the political leaders of the local government area, wondering what could have been the cause of his death.
Also, confiming the development, one of the political leaders in the area and former Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development in the State, Hon. Saka Ogunleye, said: “It is on a sad note, painful and pathetic, that I’m here again to announce the tragic death of our council vice chairman Hon Anthony Adebusola.”
Ogunleye said, “This unfortunate death occurred yesterday after a brief illness. Painful that we lost both our elected council chairman and his amiable, loyal vice chairman within one week.
“Like a bad movie, so sad a story. Ko ye mi oo. I urge you all to pray for us and the family members the two of them left behind.”
