The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi has dismissed the directive by Governor Monday Okpebholo asking him to seek security clearance from him before visiting Edo State.
Reacting the directive for the first time, Obi insisted that he will always go to Edo State whenever he wished.
Obi who reacted in an interview by newsmen at the Christ The King College (CKC), Onitsha, Anambra State on Thursday, advised Governor Okpebholo to rather compliment his efforts in supporting public institutions instead of threatening him.
Obi was at CKC where he donated N50million to the management of the college on behalf of the old boys to support the management in their “good works”.
Responding to newsmen concerning the directive, Obi dismissed the warning, saying he is used to receiving threats.
“I’m used to receiving threats. I will go to Edo any time I want”, Obi insisted.
The former Anambra State governor was received at the church by the Archbishop of the Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, management and students of the college.
He commended the management of his alma mater for what he described as “Phenomenal work ” they were doing in the college.
Obi disclosed that a few of his colleagues decided to donate some money to support the management of the college.
In their respective speeches, the ArchBishop eulogised the former Anambra State Governor in his efforts towards building a new Nigeria.
