The Kaduna State Police Command has summoned the immediate-past governor of the State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, alongside seven senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.

A police letter dated September 4, 2025, and signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi, directed the State chairman of ADC to produce El-Rufai and the other party leaders at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8, 2025.

Those listed in the invitation included Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly known as “30”), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (also known as “Mikiya”).

The letter, titled ‘Investigation Activities: Case of Criminal Conspiracy, Inciting Disturbance of Public Peace, Mischief and Causing Grievous Hurt’, stated that the individuals were being invited to clarify allegations lodged against them by unnamed complainants.

The police wrote, “This Department is currently investigating the above-mentioned case involving the following members of your party. You are requested to come along with them to SCID to clarify allegations reported against them by the complainants on 8th September, 2025.

LEADERSHIP reports that earlier on Thursday, security operatives from the Kaduna State Police Command sealed off the ADC secretariat located at No. 4, Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna. The action occurred just hours before the North-West leadership of the party was scheduled to visit the state chapter on a commiseration mission.

Eyewitnesses said several police patrol vans were stationed around the premises in what appeared to be a coordinated move to block access to the opposition party’s office.

Last week, thugs attacked an ADC meeting in Kaduna. The coalition meeting was convened under the leadership of El-Rufai at the Conference Hall of NUT Endwell in Magadishu Layout.

According to reports, the attackers destroyed windscreens of several vehicles and damaged windows of the conference hall. Witnesses alleged that the incident occurred in the presence of armed policemen earlier deployed to stop the meeting.

The opposition claimed that the state government pressured several event centres to cancel earlier bookings for their meetings.

In response, an ADC chieftain in the state, Yusuf Shehu Bello, has dragged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police to the Federal High Court, Kaduna, over alleged unlawful restrictions on political gatherings.

Bello, through his counsel, Barrister Farouk Dikko, filed an interlocutory injunction seeking to restrain the police from suspending, disrupting, or interfering with political meetings held in public places or hotels across the state.
