JUST-IN: Remains Of Late COAS Lagbaja Depart Lagos For Abuja

The acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede with other senior officers when he paid a condolence visit to Mrs Mariya Lagbaja and other family members of the late COAS, Lt Gen Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja at the Flag Staff House, Niger Barracks Abuja, yesterday.

The remains of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, have been airlifted from the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos en route Abuja.

At exactly 9:00am, soldiers of the Guards Brigade solemnly received the body, preparing to pay their final respects to the fallen military leader.

LEADERSHIP reports that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja passed away last week Tuesday at the age of 56, after an undisclosed ailment.

He was appointed as Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.

His body is being expected in Abuja this Thursday for other burial rites ahead of the final internment at the National Military Cemetery in the nation’s capital city on Friday, November 15, 2024.
